A disappointing start to the game for Bassett who went behind to a 14th minute goal, but then fought back with a goal by Frost after a good through ball from York. Bassett finished the first half ahead when Hanrahan completed a good move shortly before the 45 minutes were up.

In the second half Bassett missed an early chance by York and the game continued to be well contested by both sides, Bassett missing another opportunity to further their lead when frost was put through with a chance. Calne forced the draw with seconds on the clock by a speculative shot after a half clearance from Calne Corner. Bassett can reflect on this top of table clash as a game where they dropped a point, but still remained on top of Division 1.
