Sunday 25th April 2010 - Eldene Rangers (A)

A good match to end the season, if not such a good result. Eldene started well and deserved to take the lead. We hit straight back though when a free kick from a long way out was smashed against the post and in from Ben. 3 great goals in the last 3 matches for Ben now!

Eldene then took control of the match with 3 more goals – hesitancy in the penalty area cost us and the Eldene strikers took full advantage with some fine finishing. At 4:1 to Eldene it looked like being a disappointing end to the season; the boys however had different ideas and started to play superbly. Joe was finding his confidence again and was looking dangerous. He took the ball midway into the Eldene half surrounded by defenders and weaved past 4 of them and shot home at a tight angle.

Sam then got into the action with a superb run down the wing beating defenders with his pace. He cut inside and found the roof of the net with a fabulous shot. 4:3 – game on!

With just seconds remaining we won a corner. Joe put in a lovely cross which was headed onto the bar. So close to an equaliser but it just wouldn't come.

The Eldene manager chose Joe as the man of the match. Joe looks to be getting his enthusiasm back which is promising for the summer tournaments and for next season. Well done Joe.

It's been a good season overall though with the boys progressing well and most importantly, enjoying themselves! Thanks to all of you, and parents too for all your support.
