Sunday 11th October 2009 - Swindon Supermarine (A)

Our regular keeper Daniel couldn't make today's match but there was no need for any concern as Daniel's stand-in for the day, Ashley, and his defenders Nick, Josh and Alex all had an excellent game.

We came out of the blocks quickly today and soon took the lead when Ben King dribbled round the Supermarine defence before finishing nicely. Ben took confidence from this and soon added another in similar style going on a mazy run before finishing high into the roof of the net. Ben then completed his hat-trick with more of the same, beating 3 players before shooting past the keeper. Ben then added a 4th and was proving unplayable!

Joe Mitchell scored number 5 before half time with the goal of the match – smashing the ball into the roof of the net from well outside the area!

The 2nd half was much closer though with some excellent Supermarine defending. Joe Mitchell added number 6 after Ben King's shot was parried by the keeper. Ben had worked so hard in the first half that it was no surprise that he couldn't match his terrific first half goal spree; however he was still always a threat.

Supermarine rallied and began to get stronger. Our defence stood firm though and Josh and Nick mopped everything up at the back. Nick in particular showed excellent improvement from last week and didn't put a foot wrong all match. A real man-of-the-match performance from Nick.
