Sunday 8th November 2009 - Tetbury Town (H)

The boys all lined up before the match for the Remembrance Sunday 'Minute's Silence'. This was observed impeccably by both teams, VERY well done to them all!

Wootton were without Josh again for the top of the table clash, so Ben had to step back to defence. He didn't let us down and took control of every Tetbury attack. One moment of hesitation though led to a Tetbury chance, and unusually for Daniel, he was a bit slow coming off his line and Tetbury took the lead.

Tetbury had a few chances to add to the lead but Daniel wasn't making it easy for the Tetbury attack and pulled off many fine saves.

With Ben covering at the back it left us a bit short of attacking options. Joe was playing a blinder though and was giving the Tetbury defence no peace at all. Great skin and pace from Joe was really troubling Tetbury and a snap shot from Joe was tipped onto the post by the Tetbury keeper.

Wootton kept pressing though and got their reward when some good work from Jake gave Ashley a chance from the edge of the area. Ashley drilled the ball home to give Wootton a well deserved equaliser!

On a cold and wet day we really could have done with making a few substitutions however, with Josh missing and Alex having to go off ill, again we were left with only 7 players! The addition of Sam to the team is going to be a much needed boost.

Tetbury continued to pour forward and they took the lead again when they slotted home after a goalmouth scramble.

With time running out we continued to press for the equaliser but unfortunately couldn't find the net. 2:1 top Tetbury.

With an all round good game in goal, and a superb improvement in attitude, (no sulking, no moaning, and plenty of encouragement!) Daniel gets today's man of the match award. Cold, wet and having just come off the pitch beaten, Daniel was still smiling and THAT'S what matters most, well done Daniel.
