Sunday 25th October 2009 - Swindon Supermarine (H)

The focus for this friendly was 'teamwork' and the lads didn't let us down. A lot more passing today and some really good moves.

Joe opened the scoring with his 13th goal of the season. Well taken finish into the top of the net. Another good run from Ben resulted in a penalty, but Alex couldn't find the corner of the net and the score remained 1:0.

It stayed 1:0 for a while then Daniel came on pitch and made a big difference, linking well with Joe and Ben before Ben finished to make it 2:0.

The next goal was the one that everybody has been waiting for! Some good work from Joe left Alex with a one-on-one with the keeper, and Alex finished well through the keepers legs to make it 3:0. 25 goals so far this year for Wootton Bs and finally it's a goal for someone other than Joe and Ben, well played Alex!

Ben began to come more into the game and he and Daniel were looking good together with some lovely one-twos and inter-play. Ben scored his 2nd and set up Joe for number 5.

Ben then completed his hat trick with a cool finish into the corner, and finally ended the scoring with his forth of the match. Joe was just denied his hat-trick as his long range free kick cannoned off the bar!

A great debut for Sam who really fitted in nicely with the team, showing some excellent passing ability that our team has sometimes been missing. Welcome to the team Sam, hope you carry on enjoying playing as much as you did today.

The defence were again very solid. Nick was steady at the back, Nicky solid in goal, but the real star in defence was Josh. Didn't put a foot wrong all match and the only concern is that our team rely so much on Josh that we miss him when he doesn't play! Rodney suggested that his mum wraps him in cotton wool at the weekend before our matches!

Alex limped off before the end and although struggling with a painful toe injury, was desperate to get back on and play some more. Alex has finally shaken off his 'most improved player' tag and is now an important member of the team. All the boys congratulated Alex sincerely when he was awarded this week's man-of-the-match.
