Sunday 28th March 2010 - Cricklade Youth (H)

We didn't start well against the bottom team Cricklade and they took an early lead. Ben King equalised for us though with a well taken goal and the boys didn't look back from there. Our second was somewhat fortunate with Joe taking a corner and the ball deflecting in off a Cricklade defender.

We made it 3:1 when a long clearance from Ashley sailed over the entire Cricklade team and Joe latched onto it to finish superbly into the roof of the net.

Our 4th goal came as a complete surprise to everybody, especially Josh! As the ball came through to Josh in his own half, he let fly with a missile of a shot. The ball flew past everybody with a Cricklade defender sensibly moving out of the way as the ball came flying towards him; it nearly broke the net as it flew in. Great goal.

A good move involving Joe and Ben resulted in our 5th. Joe received the ball from midfield and put Ben through with a lovely pass. Ben's shot was too hot for the keeper to handle and Joe was there to finish it off.

The last 10 minutes was a little disappointing as Cricklade began to get into the match. They scored a well deserved 2nd goal, and it was Cricklade who finished the stronger.

Not our best performance today but there were definitely some positives to take from the game. Nick, Jake and Josh were steady at the back again, and Ben and Sam were busy in midfield - Ben seems back to his energetic best, putting in a lot of work. Daniel once again looked good, helping out the defence and starting off our attacks. Joe looked a little short of confidence and didn't get as many shots away as usual, but even when not at his best, he was always a threat and took his chances really well.

Ashley again showed great promise in goal. He looked pretty comfortable and commanded his area well. His distribution was a big factor in our win and was today's man of the match.
