Under 10's provide the Under 18's pre-match entertainment

Entertaining and friendly pre-match before the U18's game against Chippenham Town U18's, under the floodlights at Rylands Way. The fixture looked in doubt right up until the day before, due to heavy rain, but after two days of dry weather the game was on.

With 11 players, it was going to be a stop-start game of changes, and this did disturb the flow, however the game was more about fun and this was the reason for bringing along as many players as possible. Early in the Game, Bassett took the lead when Brett Fairclough scored a fine goal. At times Bassett played well with some good passing and movement, but we didn't really hold positions well. Chippenham scored a well worked goal, and played very well, especially in midfield.

In the second half, Bassett played their best football and Jake Gosling scored a well struck goal, after a sustained period of pressure and some commanding midfield play from Sam Munton. Vince Tapster and Tucker Blinkhorn played very well in midfield, and connected well with Brett and Jake. After another period of pressure from Bassett, Brett Fairclough made a well timed run, and from a rebounded shot, Brett cleverly chipped the goalkeeper to score his second of the night. Chippenham came back into the game and played some excellent football, and they pressured our defence with some excellent play and with the run of play, scored a fine goal to make it 3-2. Good performances from James Lownds in defence, Phillip Parsons in goal, Oliver Stevens and James French.

Thanks to Rod and Roger for allowing us the use of Rylands, Jeff Blinkhorn for refereeing the game, and the vocal support from the U13's and U18's. Many thanks to Julie from Chippenham Town for bringing their team along, and in the end a fairly even game and a really enjoyable occasion for all involved.
