Bassett draw with high flying Rangers

Today's game was against a highflying Swindon Rangers team and with the high winds and hail stones the coaches knew this was going to be a hard game and it did not disappoint us.

The 1st half started and immediately Bassett was put under pressure from the away team but the wind had a lot to do with it more than anything else. The team defended well and George was kicking well from the goal kicks under extreme pressure, the defence of Callum and Miles were getting stuck in, But they need to understand there roles in the game and be aware of who is around them and not get sucked into another side of the pitch and leave a big hole behind them.

The midfield of JD and with support from Jake and Danny were getting stuck in and battling well against the strong team of the Rangers and the constant wind against them, with Josh up front they all had a few chances to convert but fail to score so the team going into half time nil – nil was a good start after a long break off.

2nd half ko with JD having a rest Jed came on and made a nuisance of himself to the away team by harassing them, but Jed also needs to know when to pass or run with the ball but that will come in time with more training, the team started to believe in themselves now and started to make and create more chances and sure enough 1 came along and Jake buried the ball low and hard in the bottom of the net to make Bassett take a 1 nil lead, With the team now playing more like a unit now and battling for each other a win was on the cards, George in goal launched a kick cleared the whole pitch and was very unlucky not to score but the other keeper managed to hold onto it , with Miles flying now and doing some great tackles along with Callum to stop the away team from scoring Miles broke free and hit the ball from 20 yards which saw it go just past the post/crossbar.

Just as the last 2 mins were ticking away Bassett did it again, lost the ball just outside the defence and the away team broke away to score to make it 1-1, but not all is lost the team played very well and should be proud of what they have achieved today.
