Bassett lose heavily in cup to Ferndale Rodbourne

After the 1-0 defeat from last week, Bassett went into today's cup game against Ferndale with a little more confidence of achieving their first win of the season, they were wrong.

The game started brightly with both sides creating chances but it was Ferndale who took the lead after 10 minutes, with the second soon following with lapses in midfield – where were they today??? Ferndales third and fourth soon followed in quick succession.

Bassett then suddenly sprung to life three quarters of the way through the first half and with some good play, proving they can do it when they want to, goals from George Dow and Josh Dack before the break and we seemed to be on a roll, but then the half time whistle came at the wrong time for us taking us into the break down 4-2.

Second half started, unfortunately, not in the same way and once again Bassett conceded another two goals in quick succession despite desperate attempts by Reece in goal, and Callum & JD in defence to clear the ball.

Danny made some good runs down the wing but nobody was in the middle to knock the ball in which was unlucky as the Ferndale keeper was hesitant in collecting the ball many times we just weren't following up the loose ball.

With the wind against us, this only highlighted the problems Wayne is facing this season, players unaware of the positions, basic passing skills seem to be forgotton and also dropping back to help their team mates.

With work at the training ground desperately needed to rectify these issues before we fall too far behind in the league.
