Another heavy defeat

Today's game was being played with a change of line up from that which was heavily defeated last week in the cup match against Ferndale.

Once again, Bassett struggled to cause any problems for the opposing goalkeeper, hardly troubling him at all throughout the game, with the majority of the game being played in their own half.

With a change of goalkeeper in George B for the first half, we still failed to keep out the goals from Shrivenham & Watchfield, and went into half time down 4-0, including a penalty awarded against us for a tackle by JD. Problems again were highlighted with the midfield, with the lack of passing and chasing of the ball.

Second half saw another change of goalkeeper with another George, Dow this time, taking his place between the posts. George made some good saves but wasn't able to keep out an own goal by Danny, whose clearance ended up the wrong side of the post.

With the time ticking away we saw good running again by Danny and Jed but we again failed to get through the defence. Some strong (sometimes over the top) tackling by both Miles and JD also failed to make an impact.

A free kick taken by Josh gave Bassett a little hope but this was cleared by a good header from the defence of S & W. And a good run through the centre by Danny whose shot went straight across the goal ended what little hope we had of a consolation goal.

When the final whistle at long last came Bassett were down 9-0, once again highlighting the difficult task Wayne and the team are facing in the future.
