Bassett quick out of the blocks to maintain good league form

Wootton Bassett started their match against Shaw at great pace and led 4-1 after just ten minutes. Tom Marchment put Bassett in front before Phil Tearle extended the lead almost immediately. Tom Marchment then got his second to make it 3-0. However, Shaw started to make a fight of it and pulled one back with a spectacular long range effort from Craig Rogers. Dan Strange then got on the act with a 20 yard thunderbolt to restore Bassett′s three goal advantage. Shaw found their composure and stopped further goals until towards the end of the half when Phil Tearle grabbed two further goals to complete his hat-trick and make it 6-1 at the break. An own goal from former Bassett player Tom Holmes extended the visitors lead before Craig Rogers netted a second. Bassett continued to dominate and Tom Marchment became the second Bassett player to complete a hat-trick before Shaw pulled another back through Aaron Hall. Aaron Stevens completed the scoring for Bassett to make the final score 9-3 to the visitors.
