Wootton Bassett Town got off to the best start possible with a 3-1 victory over Greenmeadow Youth in what was a very physical battle.
Bassett took the lead through Phil Tearle, who fired home from close range after a Dean Wason free kick came back out off the post.
Aaron Stevens – who also missed a penalty – doubled the lead with a powerful header before Lee Moulton pulled one back just before the break, connecting with a corner.
Tom Marchment sealed the win midway through the second period, after he latched onto a through ball and coolly lobbed the oncoming Max Schofield.
