Bassett lose at Highworth as poor run continues

We travelled to Highworth for this local derby hoping to maintain our unbeaten away record and try and get our season back on track.

Both sides started cautiously and both defences looked on top as Highworth flooded their midfield and played with only one player up front and we struggled to get to grips with this as the first half went on and were also second best in our work rate and also in the tackles and looked poorer and poorer as the game went on and it came as no surprise when Highworth took the lead.

We then lost Chris Hawkins to an ankle injury enabling Richard Bruce to come on and make his debut for the club but we went into the break 1-0 down.

Our performance in the second half was abysmal and Highworth scored two further goals to give themselves a comfortable victory and the players need to have a long hard look at themselves because this is the nucleus of the side that were riding high at the top of the league only two months ago.
