Final score flatters Bassett Reserves

Our unbeaten start to the season continued with a somewhat flattering victory in a game that at times we played at half pace at surroundings that were not in keeping with in my opinion Hellenic League standards as the game was played on an outside pitch at Cirencester Towns stadium .

We got off to a great start when Mark King gave us the lead from a Nathan Hall pass after only 7 minutes but then we allowed our opponents to get back into the game and they equalized after 25 minutes when a free kick drifted into the net following poor defending and the half time score remained 1-1.

After walking the what seemed like half mile back to the pitch after the interval we then got our shape back and played some good football and further goals came from Leigh with a five yard tap in and Steve Howse from a corner and finally Nathan scored his customary goal to give us our flattering victory.

We must though start to play to our own standards and not to the oppositions because sooner or later we will get caught out and the game will be over before we have woken up .On a bright note this game saw the debut of Tom Messenger who with his tough tackling and passing will soon be an asset to the side to go along with Craig (Rab) Maclaren who looks better with every game, its just a shame you can't understand a word he's saying.

Next week sees a local derby with Fairford coming to Rylands way.
