We at last got the opportunity to play this cup game at the fifth time of asking in the hope of a much-improved performance from Saturdays and to progress into the next round where a visit to Shrivenham would await us. We knew this would be a tight affair as Trowbridge are in second place in their league and are very much a club on the up with a very good bunch of young players and both sides huffed and puffed in the early exchanges with the pace of Trowbridge players causing us problems without any real end result. Gradually we grew into the game and after 25 minutes a run by Mark Hammond was ended in the box and a penalty was awarded and Stuart Hemsley dispatched the ball into the bottom right corner to give us the lead in emphatic style and this was how it stayed until the half time break.

Trowbridge had the better of the second half and went close on several occasions, but we managed to hold onto our lead and progress into the next round.
