Bassett stop Saracens completing a league double over them

We travelled to Cheltenham hoping to stop them being the first team this season to complete a league double over us and also hoping to get our season back on track after a somewhat indifferent spell of both results and performances.

We started with a 4-4-2 formation for the first time this season and this gave us a good balance with Ashley Rowe also returning in goal after injury and looked very solid from the start and took the lead with a good finish from Chris Hawkins following good work from Hammo and we held this lead at the break.

In the second half the game went from end to end and we should have gone further in front but Hawks missed two easier chances than the one he scored as he and Hammo continued to cause problems with their excellent movement.

Unfortunately we then conceded an equalizer when following a corner Craig Maclaren diverted a cross into his own goal to put Saras back on level terms and this was how it was to stay as we kept up our unbeaten away record and stopped Saras completing the double in the process.
