Bassett went 2-0 in the first 5 minutes through Phil Tearle and Dean Wason but then sat back and allowed the visitors to get back into the match. Fairford duly scored midway through the half but could have scored on a couple of occasions before they finally did find the net. In the second half Bassett stepped up a gear but could not find the goal to kill the game off. From a Bassett free kick on the edge of the box the Fairford keeper saved and kicked long to the lone Fairford striker Tom Lander who out paced the two Bassett defenders and volleyed into the net for 2-2. Jonny Aitkenhead, Tom Marchment and Phil Tearle were all put through for one on ones with the Fairford keeper in the closing stages but on each occasion Bassett failed to hit the target.
