Entertaining draw under lights

In an entertaining game played at Rylands Way under floodlights on Friday night honours again ended even between Wootton Bassett and Wroughton. It was Wootton Bassett who created most of the chances in the first half and went in front with ane excellent goal scored by Phil Tearle. Bassett continued to have most of the possession but Wroughton always looked dangerous on the break. It was from one such break that they got themselves back into the game when Gary Devenney headed powerfully from the edge of the area from a corner and the ball looped over Bassett keeper Craig Munday off the underside of the bar into the net. Bassett restored the lead when Dominc Juggins scored following a fine passing move involving Jonny Aitkenhead and Phil Tearle. Whilst Bassett had dominated the first period it was Wroughton who bossed the second following the introduction of Jonny May. A fine solo goal from Adam Burson put Wroughton back on level terms and the visitors could easily have taken all three points with more composure in front of goal. Twice Bassett cleared the ball off the line and the visitors also hit the bar.
