Miserable home form continues

A poor performance by the Under 14's saw their miserable home form continue, it is now no wins from 4 home games. Playing against the wind first half Bassett did well to hold the visitors to one goal, this a powerful shot from the edge of the box that gave keeper Munday no chance. The introduction of Dominic Juggins at half time immediately paid off as he headed Bassett back on level terms. Another powerful shot, this time from Jonny Aitkenhead, put Bassett in front and with the wind behind them the prospect of a first home win of the season looked on the cards. However, it was Croft who responded to going behind and started to play some neat passing football. A defensive slip up, with Bassett failing to clear, allowed Croft back into the game. This was followed by a harshly awarded free kick on the edge of the box, following a good fair tackle by Dan Strange that only the referee saw as a foul, one of a number of decisions that went against Bassett in the game. From the resulting free kick the ball was curled into the corner of the net, 3-2 Croft. Worse was to follow when Phil Forster was adjudged to have fouled a Croft striker in the box and a penalty was given. Croft made no mistake from the spot an condemned Bassett to another home defeat.

The team could clearly do with a confidence booster but have tricky away games coming up at Eastville and Stratton Juniors.
