Third friendly win on the trot for Bassett U13's

A patchy performance against 2nd Division opposition. In difficult conditions with the ball bouncing high on the hard surface Bassett played some neat football at times in the first half but found it difficult to create any clear-cut chances. Bassett took the lead about ten minutes before the breakthrough through Tom Marchment. Pete Willis continued his fine run of form in front of goal with Bassett's second shortly afterwards. Just as it looked that Bassett would go in at half-time with a comfortable 2 goal cushion, some poor defending allowed Ramsbury to get behind the Bassett defence and score with what was just about their only real attack of the half.

Bassett started the second half poorly and kept giving the ball away. The visitors started to take the game to Bassett and equalised following a mix up in the Bassett defence between Dan Strange and stand-in keeper Phillip Forster, on for the injured Craig Munday. Worse was to follow when Bassett allowed Ramsbury to go in front. It was not until the closing stages of the match that Bassett started to play any penetrating football and got out of jail thanks to late strikes from Jonny Aitkenhead, Phillip Tearle, Tom Marchment and Peter Willis. the final score flattered Bassett and the team will have to play a lot better in their remaining three league games if more points are to be accumulated.
