Bassett Under 13's will go into the New Year still involved in both league and F.A. cup competitions thanks to a 9-2 win over Eastville Boys, the top side in Division 2 of the league. The first 15 minutes were a tight affair but once Shaun Mochan broke the deadlock on 16 minutes there was only going to be one winner. Phil Forster, getting a rare chance to start with a couple of players missing, added a second on 25 minutes. A mix up at the back gifted a goal to Eastville on 28 minutes, Josh Paddon the scorer. Bassett extended their lead just before half time when top scorer Phil Tearle netted. The second half saw an 18-minute hat-trick from Tom Marchment, two of which were headers from Bassett's smallest player. In between Chris People scored for Eastville. Another goal from Phil Forster and one each for Dean "Sonic" Wason and Phil Tearle completed the scoring. A comfortable win that sees Bassett through to the last 8 of the competition, with the quarter-final draw scheduled for Tuesday night.
