Big win for Bassett in opener

One nil down after just a minute to a David Hoggs goal, Bassett's defence once again had a shaky start in their first league game of the season. A Phillip Tearle equaliser settled the home side down and they started to get on top, playing some good attacking football. Time and time again Phillip Tearle got behind the Marlborough defence and he could have had three further goals before he did extend the lead for Bassett. The Marlborough defence just did not know how to deal with Bassett's man of the match and he completed his hat-trick just before half time.

Bassett continued to dominate the second half and two goals from Jonny Aitkenhead, one for Tom Marchment and a fourth for Phillip Tearle wrapped up all three points for Bassett. Marlborough's second consolation goal was scored by Josh Digby from the penalty spot. A good start to the season for Bassett in what is a tough Division yet again.
