Royal Wootton Bassett Town leapfrogged Hereford Pegasus, moving up into seventh in the Hellenic League Premier Division, with a convincing 3-0 home victory.

Extending their league winning streak to four games, Sam Collier's side were in control of the match throughout, comfortably coming through an important game as Bassett fight for their highest ever league finish.

All the damage was done in the first half thanks to an unlikely trio of scorers as both full backs and a goal-shy midfielder found the net.

Kai Robinson was the player to get things going. In 119 previous Bassett appearances, the hard-working midfielder had scored just once. It was therefore little surprise that he wheeled away with joy after bundling home following a Matt Jones corner.

That goal came after just ten minutes.

Bassett had to wait until the end of the half to extend their lead though - but scored twice just before the break to make it 3-0.

Right back Scott Chilcott added the second. Approaching his 50th Bassett appearance, this was his first goal for the club and it completed a well-worked move.

Chris Taylor played forward to Jones who sprayed a fine pass to Louis Spalding who whipped in an excellent cross that was just out of reach of forward Matt Bennett. The ball fell to Chilcott at the far post though, and he made no mistake with a composed finish from a tight angle into the far corner.

Spalding then completed the scoring. Grabbing his sixth of the campaign - an impressive tally for a left back, he headed home from a Bennett cross after the veteran forward had raced onto Bailey Gallagher's through ball in the right channel.
