Better performance can only yield familiar result

A late David Woodfield goal ensured Royal Wootton Bassett Town's winless run continued as Brimscombe and Thrupp triumphed 1-0.

After Saturday's heavy defeat, the level of performance was what Royal Wootton Bassett Town manager Paul Braithwaite demanded. However, the reaction he got from his players was still not enough to prevent defeat as David Woodfield's 81st minute goal sealed the points for Brimscombe and Thrupp.

Bassett, who are now without a win in their last eight games, battled hard throughout the game. Yet they unfortunately didn't look like scoring; it certainly didn't help that they had to do without leading scorer Steve Robertson.

Nor were they ultimately able to shut Brimscombe out. Bassett had won their four previous league meetings against their Gloucestershire opponents. Woodfield's strike ensured it would be Brimscombe who took the spoils this time though.
