3 ‒ 2 |
Royal Wootton Bassett Town slumped to a second consecutive defeat as they fell 3-2 away against recently promoted Lydney Town, conceding vital goals early and late.
If conceding after just 18 seconds was bad enough, letting in a late winner felt even worse for Royal Wootton Bassett as they slipped to a 3-2 away defeat at newly promoted Lydney Town.
While coming in different circumstances to the thrashing suffered at the hands of Flackwell Heath on Saturday, the result at the Premier Division newcomers meant a second consecutive painful defeat for Paul Braithwaite's team.
And it was certainly an avoidable result.
The hosts took the lead with less than twenty seconds on the clock as Jarred Liddington, a frequent tormentor of Bassett down the years, took advantage of slack defending to put the Severnsiders in front.
Goals in quick succession from Steve Robertson and Steve Yeardley midway through the opening period turned things around prior to the break.
However, Declan Morley-Lyne, who had struck the post as half time approach, leveled from the spot on the hour before striking the game's decisive goal with around ten minutes remaining.
