Bassett hit ten past Stratton Juniors B

From the off Bassett looked the stronger team with a very early shot from Josh W which was saved by the Stratton goal keeper. Bassett were taking advantage of the slope, as Stratton attempted to keep the ball out of their net. Bassett were all over Stratton, on the right through Max and on the left with Josh W. Then after 5 minutes of play Bassett score, a great ball from Tyler played into the feet of Sam, Sam strikes the ball into the back of the net, Bassett take the lead. Even after the kick off Bassett are running the ball at Stratton. Bassett win a corner which is defended well but only as far as Arron, Arron passes to Fraser, Fraser shoots but the ball is driven over the cross bar. Bassett's defence of Regan, Dale, Josh and Jake look strong as Stratton attempted to break them down, but with no joy.

Max is playing well on the right and managed to deliver three quality crosses but no one could convert them into goals on this occasion. Bassett earn a free kick, Arron steps up and goes for the top corner, but the Stratton keeper pushes the ball around his post for a corner. Then the next goal, again some very good passing, Fraser plays a ball to Sam, Sam finds Tyler, Tyler cuts back to put the ball onto his left foot and shoots, the ball beats the keeper for Bassett's second. Bassett are two up and cruising. Then within two minutes of the restart Fraser knocks in Bassett's third, a well taken high shot which drifts into the top corner.

Stratton attempts to break and a mix up at the back allows the ball to fall into the path of the Stratton forward, however Regan sweeps up and clears Bassett's lines. Bassett are placing all sorts of pressure on Stratton, Dale plays a great ball over the top of the Stratton midfield allowing Sam to run onto the ball. Sam carries the ball towards the Stratton goal; he slows, picks his place and slots the ball home for Bassett's fourth. Josh W picks up a knock and is replaced by Callum; this is good news for Callum as he is now on the left his favoured side. Callum is into the action straight away defending on the left. He finds himself stuck in the corner and with great skill flicks the ball around the forward and lays off a great pass to Tyler who clears. Josh H was strong in his defending and working well with Arron and Max on the right. Half time 0-4 to Bassett.

The second half commenced with some changes, Fraser and Jake were replaced by Scott and Tom. Stratton defended well for the first 10 minutes using the slope to their advantage keeping out Bassett by playing some long balls over the top but Joe and our defence were strong to the attacks. Tom won the ball in midfield and played a great ball into the feet of Sam, Sam was not going to miss today and again slots the ball passed the Stratton Keeper for Bassett's fifth. Sam was replaced Josh W.

Bassett are now placing more pressure onto Stratton, and they are trying very hard to keep Bassett out, but struggle. Callum wins a goal mouth scramble to put the ball into the back of the net. Bassett are now six up. This was shortly followed by a well taken goal by Tyler, Tyler like Callum was in a goal mouth scramble, he turned and shoots, beating with ease the Stratton keeper for number seven. Stratton did look strong on the break but the back four of Josh H, Dale, Scott and Regan were not beaten. Tyler is replaced by Fraser.

Arron is on the attack and is taken down just outside the box, Arron steps up for the free kick and smacks the ball into the top corner, the Stratton keeper was not going to stop that. Bassett are now eight up. Arron is replaced by Jake. Bassett are still attacking not giving an inch to Stratton, a great ball from Callum to Fraser allows Fraser to score his second. Bassett are now nine up. Max is working hard on the right and gets his reward by scoring number ten. Jake plays a good ball for Max to run onto, he beats the on coming defender and looks like he is going to cross the ball but smacks the ball between the keeper and the post, a well taken goal. Final score 0-10 to Bassett.

The football was good and the passing was stunning at times. A good team effort and it was good to see Fraser, Callum and Max on the score sheet. Well done.
