Comfortable passage for Bassett into next round of the cup

This was always going to be a very one sided game and that's not being disrespectful to Avonvale. Bassett take the lead only after 5 minutes, Tyler wins the ball in the air and flicks it into the path of Sam, Sam shoots and scores. Bassett look so much stronger than Avonvale, our passing looked good from the back to the forwards. Sam wins in the ball on the right, and plays a great ball into the feet of Fraser, Fraser shoots but the ball travels over the top of the cross bar. Bassett are on top pushing Avonvale back into their own half, a great ball from Fraser finds Sam, Sam passes to Max, Max beats his defender and plays the ball onto Tyler, Tyler shoots but the ball is just wide of the mark. Then the second, a good long throw by Scott is dropped onto Fraser, Fraser turns and shoots, the ball deflects off an Avonvale player and trickles into the back of the net. Bassett are now two up. From the restart Bassett are straight back at Avonvale and again with some good passing, with Josh W winning the ball on the left, Josh beats two defenders and passes to Tyler, Tyler shoots and scores. Bassett are now three up. Josh H, Scott, Regan and Jack are playing well at the back, not that they were tested too many times. Fraser wins the ball in midfield and passes to Sam, Sam plays a great ball into Max, and Max drives towards the goal and shoots and finds the back of the net. Bassett are now four up.

It's all Bassett, but I must say that Avonvale did not back off and their heads never dropped. Again Bassett push forward looking for the next goal, a good ball from Fraser finds Sam, Sam is strong beating the on coming defender in what was a goal mouth scramble, Sam finds the space and shoots and scores. Bassett are now five up. I must say that Fraser, Max, Sam, Tyler and Callum were all linking well up front. Both Callum and Max were controlling their wings, although Callum did not see that much of the ball on the left. The first half finished 5-0.

The second half saw many changes, Scott went into goal, and Joe, Fraser and Sam were replaced by Arron, Dale and Michael. Bassett did not take time to find the seventh goal, Arron won the ball and played a great pass to Tyler, Tyler beating the oncoming defenders played a good pass into Max, Max shoots beating the goal keeper. The second half is very much like the first Bassett are the stronger team and Avonvale are not able to break through our defence. Bassett are on the attack again, this time Tyler plays a great ball into the path of Michael, Michael out passes the back tracking defenders, and slots the ball to the right side of the goal keeper to find the back of the net. Bassett are now seven up. Bassett are on top, but Avonvale are still attempting to play football, but the Bassett lads were taking the ball away from Avonvale at every opportunity. Dale is playing well in the left back position, supporting Callum. More changes, Tyler is replaced by Joe, who is now out on the pitch. Arron is now putting in some good work, driving Avonvale back into their own half, a great ball from Arron releases Callum on the left, Callum shoots but the shot is saved. Fraser is now back on and Regan is off. Arron picks up the ball in the middle of the field, and starts cutting across the pitch, he then played a great pass into the feet of Josh W, Josh shoots but again the Avonvale keeper saves. Callum and Jack are replaced by Regan and Sam.

Bassett continue to push forward and earn a free kick, Arron stands over the ball looking to make it eight, but the ball is too high not troubling the goal keeper. The team has lost its shape with all the changes and everyone pushing forward, some good work from Regan created the eighth goal, Regan moves the ball into the crowded goal area making some space for the shot. Regan shoots and the ball hits Joe V's knee and flies into the back of the net.

A good start to our cup campaign, but we did lose our shape in the second half as the team pushed forward. A good win, well done to all.
