Bassett U12 bring cheer on a wet and cold Sunday

What a wet and cold Sunday, with both players and parents soaked through to their bones and to see Andy in shorts, well what can you say. Also my notes took a hammering as I ended up with a pocket of papier-mache. So I have drafted a summary of events, and I apologise if I have missed some action or on individual player.

Coleshill started strong pushing Bassett back forcing Dale, Jake, Regan and Scott to defend well for a period of ten minutes. Bassett turned this around once our passing game picked up, and flowing football commenced. Tyler and Josh were linking well along with Fraser and Arron. Tom who was playing on the right found himself running directly into the wind and rain as Bassett attacked. Once Bassett soaked up the Coleshill pressure Bassett were the stronger team with Sam linking up with our midfield, I must say that Sam and Tyler were playing a strong physical game in what was very poor conditions. Bassett were playing some very good football and very soon opened up Coleshill with two goals, the first came from Josh W, who was supplied a very good pass from Dale and the second goal came from Sam from a great pass from Josh.

Bassett are on top although Coleshill look like they could score if they break. Bassett score their third through a well worked short corner. Tyler passed to Sam, Sam plays the ball back to Tyler, Tyler crosses the ball, and Fraser watches the ball and heads it in to the right hand corner. As Bassett attack Coleshill struggled to clear their lines, a good move from Fraser plays Tyler in behind the Coleshill back four, Tyler shoots and scores, Bassett are now four up. At the end of the first half, Bassett are four up.

On the turn the rain and wind picked up, you could see the boys on both teams looking cold. Joe was re placed by Jake who went into goal. Max, Conner and Callum came on in the second half adding some new fresh legs to the team. Bassett were now looking even stronger as Coleshill had the wind and heavy rain in their faces. Jake, who was in goal, was not called upon to make any big saves but he did put his big right boot through the ball on some occasions. Joe replaced a very cold Tyler, up front supporting Sam; this was followed by a frozen Josh who asked to come off.

Although Bassett were the stronger team, they could not break down Coleshill that easily, Bassett managed to add to the score line through, good passing lead to Arron which was followed by Dale scoring.

Final score 6 – 0 to Bassett, a good score line when you consider the appalling conditions. Well done lads a good win.
