Wanderers avenge league defeat

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 29th Apr 2008

Wickham Wanderers were looking to overturn a heavy league defeat at the hands of Wootton Bassett, and they got off to the best possible start when a dangerous free-kick from Albie Oakman flew in at the far post having taken the slightest of touches on its way.

Bassett looked to hit back straight away through Arron Dale but it was Wickham who extended their lead when an excellent Guest ball in from the right created confusion in the Bassett defence as the ball ended up in the back of the net.

Bassett pushed determinedly to get back into the game after half-time and a meandering Josh Way run almost did the trick before Fraser Evans won the race onto a through ball only to see his shot go agonisingly wide of the upright.
