Bassett were on top from the off pushing Pewsham back into their own half. The first move was great as Fraser passed a long ball into the feet of Arron, Arron runs towards goal, forcing the corner. Tyler took a short corner but Pewsham defended well and cleared the ball away from danger. Bassett are on top and Pewsham are struggling to keep up with the passing as Bassett were breaking through their defence and midfield. Then Bassett get the break through, a second great ball from Fraser finds Arron on the right, Arron shoots from distance and the ball fly's into the back of the net between the goal keeper and the cross bar, a great goal. Our back four of Regan, Jack, Scott and Dale were defending well not allowing Pewsham to break. Then a break by Michael, Michael beats the defender and shoots, but the ball is hit directly at the goal keeper. A high ball from Regan finds the head of Michael, Michael flicks the ball on into the path of Arron, Arron shoots but the shot is saved. It's all Bassett and Pewsham don't look like they are going to get near the Bassett goal. Again the switch ball from Fraser finds Arron, Arron shoots from distance, the goal keeper attempts to save but the power of the shot forces a miss save, and the ball hits the back of the net for the second.
Again Bassett push forward, Michael finds Fraser, Fraser beats the defender and shoots but the shot is saved. Bassett are putting together strings of passing, Arron passes to Fraser, Fraser finds Michael, Michael lays the ball off to Arron, Arron crosses the ball and Callum gets his head on the ball, it looks like a goal, but the ball travels just over the cross bar. A great move. Callum is playing well chasing every ball along with Tyler on the left, this is supported by Dale as he pushes forward supporting the front two. Then Sam gets onto the score sheet. A poor goal kick and some great play by Sam, Sam picks the ball up just in front of the defender, Sam takes the ball towards the Pewsham goal, and on the volley hits the ball over the top of the goal keeper for Bassett's third goal. Then Tyler gets in on the action and takes the ball forward, but Tyler is tackled cleanly in the box by the Pewsham defender. Half time Bassett lead by 3-0.
Into the second half three changes are made, Tom, Jake and Max are on and Dale, Fraser and Callum are off. Max is in the mix from the off supplying a good ball to Arron, Arron runs down the left and then passes to Michael; Michael shoots and finds the back of the net. Bassett are now four up. Max is playing well supplying Arron and Tyler who both had shots but the Pewsham goal keeper saves. I must say their goal keeper played well, keeping the score down. Bassett are on top passing well and Joe V in our goal was never tested all day. Then the fifth goal, great individual work by Tom, Tom wins the ball in midfield beats the Pewsham defender shoots and scores. Our back four are playing well which now includes Jake, Jake clears the ball well with his strong right foot not allowing Pewsham to get close. Tyler is getting stuck in winning the ball and laying it off to the front two. Max works the ball well drawing the Pewsham defender in, he turns making space and shoots but the ball is just wide of the target. Regan is replaced by Fraser, and Arron is replaced by Callum. Tom gets on the score sheet for a second time. Tom picks the ball up from Fraser, just the goal keeper to beat, as cool as you like takes the ball around the goal keeper and scores. Bassett are now six up. Bassett are all over Pewsham, Pewsham are struggling to clear their lines, as Bassett push forward. Then Bassett's seventh, a great ball from Sam finds Tom, Tom again runs at the Pewsham goal keeper and shoots, the ball finds the back of the net. Final score 7-0.
A great win, credit must go out to the Pewsham goal keeper who made some good saves, throughout the game. Well done lads a convincing win.
