Two from Dale enough to give Bassett the points

This was the game I was waiting for, two very good teams who play a good passing game, this game could go either way.

Wroughton looked the stronger side from the off pushing Bassett back, Bassett needed to defend well, Scott was strong in his tackles not giving any room to any forward. Jack and Regan were kept very busy as Wroughton looked for the opening goal but again they were very strong, both were supported by Josh H. Bassett were pined back into their own half, conceding corner after corner. Wroughton again game at Bassett this time Regan defended well clearing the ball by pulling out a very strong tackle, which allowed Jack to clear the ball away from the danger zone. Josh H was called upon time and time again to clear the ball, and every time he won the battle.

Bassett started to push Wroughton back as their confidence grew as time moved on. We started to win balls from midfield where for the first 10 minutes this was a problem. A good pass from Tyler played into the feet of Josh W allowed Bassett,s real attack on goal, but the shot was saved. Bassett are now playing better football keeping Wroughton at bay. A good run by Arron gives Wroughton no option but to bring him down, Tyler takes the free kick which is struck well forcing the keeper to push the ball over his goal. The football is now opening up and is end to end, the quality from both teams can be seen. Half time score 0-0.

The Wroughton football ground has a slight slope, Bassett were now playing down that slope. Again for the first ten minutes its end to end football with no team having a real opportunity to score. Then a break through, Josh W runs into the box after a great ball from Arron, Josh is brought down in the box, penalty is the cry. Arron stands up and cracks the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal. Bassett take the lead.

Bassett are now looking strong as they attack, a great ball from Josh W finds Arron, Arron passes to Sam, Sam is one on one with the goal keeper and chips the keeper, the ball looks like its going in but the ball hits the cross bar bounces into the path of Josh. Josh cracks the ball towards goal, but the Wroughton defender has got back and blocks the shot for a corner. Wroughton are now under pressure and I must say from our defence through to midfield to the forwards Bassett are looking a very strong team. Bassett again push Wroughton back, earning a corner, Arron takes the corner and Fraser gets his head to the ball, the ball travels just over the top of the crossbar. Then the second goal, a great ball from Josh W to Arron, Arron runs at the keeper and as cool as you like chips the keeper for goal number two. Callum is working hard but not seeing mush of the ball which was the case for both half's. Callum tackled well and battled for every ball.

Wroughton then break and manage to get a shot away, Joe saves well keeping hold of the ball. Regan is replaced by Jake, Fraser is playing well laying off good passes keeping the Wroughton defenders guessing, Bassett had width to their game. Scott took a throw in straight to Josh W, Josh passes to Sam and Sam shoots but the shot is saved. Tyler is off and Max in on. Jake is tested at the back as Wroughton break, Jake misses the first tackle but then recovers well and clears the ball. Callum is replaced by Tom. Max is straight into the mix and plays some good balls to Arron and Josh, with only 5 minutes remaining it look like Bassett were going to take the win. Tom is also working hard on the right and linking up with Sam, Arron and Josh. Final score 0-2 to Bassett.
