Win for Bassett over Highworth Juniors

Today we travelled to Highworth Juniors and we were looking to get back to winning ways. We started the game brightly and quickly were on the attack. Kier was working hard down the left in place of Max who was missing this week. He was passing the ball well to Josh who also worked extremely hard up front closing down their defence. We continued to play some good passing football with Cameron and Eddie also working well down the right and in the middle respectively. Eventually our continual pressure told and a through ball from Kier found Josh who from an acute angle managed to beat their goalkeeper to give us a deserved lead. This seemed to spark Highworth into life a little and some good tackling from Tom and Robert at the back ensured the lead remained intact until half time.

At the break Ollie and Charlie replaced Kier and Eddie. We appeared a little slow to start the second half and a succession of corners for Highworth came to nothing thanks to the back three of Jordan in goal and Tom and Robert in defence. As the second half wore on Ollie started using our possession well and it was really just a matter of time before we scored again. With Josh still working very hard up front he got his reward with a well finished second from a through ball from Ollie. The defence and Jordan in goal kept their concentration well and didn′t give Highworth any chance to score. A final score of 2-0 was very satisfactory after a good solid performance.

Special mention to Cameron who took his opportunity to start well and Ollie who was unfortunate to be on the bench but still played extremely well when coming on as a sub.
