Good performance but disappointing result

Today′s game against Cirencester would be a test of our credentials as they were just below us in the league. We started the game positively with Max going on a couple of runs, which unfortunately came to nothing. Kier playing up front worked very hard at closing down their defence but was unable to create any clear chances.

As the game progressed Cirencester became more involved in the game and Eddie and Robert at the back had to be alert to ensure that Cirencester didn′t score. From the one chance they did create in the first half Jordan made an excellent save. This ensured it stayed 0-0 at half time.

In the second half Charlie made way for Ollie and Josh came on for Kier. We again started well and with the game fairly open we created a couple of very good chances which should have been converted but Max screwed his shot wide and Josh was unable to control the ball quickly enough.

Eddie moved into midfield and we had the required bite in the middle but both Robert and Tom had to work hard to prevent Cirencester from scoring. As the game progressed both sides started to tire and Cirencester had a good chance to score, which Jordan did well to save. We continued to press and create half chances without really causing their goalkeeper problems. In the last minute we failed to clear properly and Cirencester managed to score a scrappy goal which was not a fair reflection of the game.

Overall it was a pretty even game and a draw would have been a fair result. A good performance but a disappointing end result.
