Improved display deserved a better result

After last weeks disappointing result we were looking for an improved performance and revenge for a defeat we didn′t deserve. We started the game brightly and had most of the possession but Cirencester packed their defence and made it very difficult for us to break them down.

Max on the left was causing their defence problems and from one of his runs the ball came to Charlie in the box whose first shot was saved by the keeper and the second effort was somehow cleared off the line. Eddie was working hard in midfield winning a lot of possession for us and Ollie on the right was passing and using the ball well. Unfortunately we were unable to really make the possession count and from one of our goal kicks we didn′t clear the ball properly giving Cirencester a chance to score and they took it. We continued to dominate the game but were unable to score. At half time it was an unjust 1-0 to Cirencester.

We made a couple of changes at half time. We were asleep from the second half kick off and a mix up at the back allowed Cirencester to score. It would have been very easy to give up from here but the whole team worked very hard, especially Tom and Robert at the back. We had a lot of possession and created several chances. Josh playing up front was very unlucky when sliding in on a cross from Kier only to see the effort go the wrong side of the post. Eddie eventually scored when he returned a goal kick straight into the empty net with a brilliant strike from nearly the half way line.

With Cameron coming on also we continued to dominate the match and how we did not score again I do not know. Eddie had a point blank effort saved as the goalkeeper got in the way of it and didn′t know much about it. More excellent tackling from Tom, Robert and Cameron kept us in the game but we eventually ran out of time and lost 2-1.

A very much improved display on last week and we really deserved a better result. We had most of the possession in the game but we did not make it count.
