Deserved win for Bassett in opener

This was our first league game of the season and hopes were high after two recent victories in pre season friendly matches.

We started the game well and we were in control for the whole of the first half. We played some very good football but we did not make it count and the score was 0-0 at half time.

The second half started in similar fashion and about ten minutes into the second half Keir had a long range shot that the goalkeeper pushed ono the post and the ball stopped right on the line. Ollie reacted quickly and tapped the ball into the net to give us the lead.

The last ten minutes of the game were a little bit edgy as Highworth tried to score an equaliser. They came very close but were denied by a brilliant save from our goalkeeper, Jordan Brown.

This was a very good performance from the whole team and was thoroughly enjoyed by all spectators and players. We thoroughly deserved to win the match and 1-0 was not really a fair reflection of our overall performance.
