Another single goal defeat

The Bee′s kick off on a cold brisk morning with home advantage but this is soon nullified 3 minutes after the start by another unfortunate own goal. To the lads credit they kept their heads up and continued fighting for every ball. Their reward came after 10 minutes when a "Long Tom" drop kick special sets Matt free down the centre and with only the keeper to beat he slots the ball home for the equaliser.

The good play from the Bee′s continues with Jack and Teddy giving a master class in defence and Theo showing great tenacity in his tackling and cool passing under pressure. Dec on the right side is his usual never give up, do or die self, and sends some good balls into the centre for Matt. Josh was not in his usual position for the first half and seemed a little unsure in mid field. Theo is subbed by Josh BB who slots straight into the match and makes some solid defensive tackles. With seconds to go in the first half Tom saves a certain goal at point blank range, which keep the Bee′s in the game at 1-2 down.

With Josh back in his usual position up front his confidence returns and he sends a great header just inches wide. Theo comes back on after 10 minutes of the restart and again is in the thick of the action. Josh sends another great shot just wide and is like a bear with the honey pot up front, he just loves it!! Tom saves another certain goal with a brave dive at the feet of an advancing Wroughton striker. Tom is launching some big drop kicks deep into the Wroughton half but they are going beyond the strikers and being gathered by the keeper.

Wroughton now hold siege to the Bee′s goal with several corners and score after 15 minutes following a goalmouth scramble. Soon after Tom again saves the day with another point blank reflex save. The Bee′s are on the attack again and a good through ball by Matt to Josh is just a fraction long. Theo comes off again ,replaced by Josh BB More corners for the Bee′s from both sides fizz across the face of Wroughtons goal but time and time again the lads fail to capitalise on them and score.

The second half ends with some great defending by Tom, Teddy and Jack and some good attacking moves by Josh and Matt but no goals. If the lads could convert chances into goals they would be virtually unbeatable with the defence they′ve got. The disappointed home crowd were cheered up by a cross-country skiing display by Mike Wallace, Laurens dad, using corner flags instead of ski poles!!

It was nice to see Andy at the match for the second half and he must have been impressed with the lads fighting qualities and solid defensive work. I have to say that the lads in attacking positions need to work harder at putting the ball in the net so they can start winning games.
