Bassett lose close contest with Coleshill to a solitary goal

We were met with an eerie, silent and misty Ballards Ash for this crucial Match against Coleshill who are un-defeated in their last 3 games. As usual the Bee′s had a large number of home supporters to spur them on.

The sun finally broke through just as the game kicked off and the first 10 minutes both sides were evenly balanced then Josh hit an explosive shot from 10 yards which the Coleshill keeper saved brilliantly. Polite applause from the home crowd who were strangely quiet with little or no encouraging shouts. Coleshill then mounted several attacks and Tom made a great save tipping the ball over the bar from a corner. Josh again attacked and had another great shot pushed wide of the right hand post by a very talented Coleshill keeper. Tom then makes 4 fantastic reflex saves, one after the other whilst on the ground at the feet of the Coleshill forwards and finally gathers the ball at the expense of a Coleshill lad who accidentally gets winded. George and Teddy are solid in defence and listening to Tom′s directions, to good effect. Callum now has a cracking shot saved after 20 minutes, the lads just don′t seem to have much luck at the moment and numerous chances seem to go a begging. Theo shone for the first half with some good runs and aggressive tackling and he always seems to come away with the ball. Thanks to some great goal keeping from both keepers the first half ends a fair 0-0

Half time 0-0

The second half kicks off with some good attacking move by the lads highlighted by 3 glorious crosses from Matthew, which again failed to produce a goal. The Bee′s must have had 6 or 7 clear cut chances in the second half with Dec providing chances but could not seem to get the ball over the line. Theo shone during half with some good runs and aggressive tackling and he always seems to come away with the ball. Then after 20 minutes of the second half Coleshill score with any one of 4 attackers in front of goal who could have shot leaving Tom with no chance. Good defending by Jack, more fruitless attacks from the Bee′s and the final whistle ends the game with another disappointing and I would say unfair result but that′s football!

Final score

Wootton Bassett 0 Coleshill1

Just an observation but I would say that from goal kicks and drop kicks the lads need to keep in front of the opposing players instead of letting them nip in front and gain possession. The lads seem to be immediately on the defensive from goal kicks instead of using them to attack the other team. And come on the home supporters lets hear some encouragement from you at the next match please to help motivate the lads. "Come on you Bee′s"
