What a start also for B side

The first game of our new season, new kit, and new age group and what a start!

The day was clear with a chill. The game was even for the first ten minutes with both sides finding their feet. Towards half time Wootton Bassett started to make use of their home advantage resulting in a goal from a corner taken by Josh Rowland knocked in by Declan Wallace. Wanborough made some good efforts at goal but saved by Tom Law. The first half ended with both teams working hard but with little results to show for all the effort. Both defences were on top.

The second half started with Wootton Bassett going in strong. Wanborough was soon to loose their goal keeper due to injury. Bassett then claimed their second goal straight from a corner by Callum Garlick increasing their lead to two nil. This lead was soon increased to three nil when a substitute was made bringing Theo Jobbins onto the pitch who took the ball past the opposing player and had a shot which the keeper got a hand to but could not keep the ball out of the net. Wanborough stepped up a gear in their attack and play. Wanborough then hit back by claiming two goals making Wootton Bassett coaches and parents nervous. However, Wootton Bassett stepped up the pace by replying with a second goal by Callum Garlick. The game remained even with both teams having some good shots at goal but being saved by the respective goal keepers. Wootton Bassett finished of the game with another goal by Theo Jobbins. The final score 5-2 to Wootton Bassett a great start to the season, well done to the lads. Thanks for all the great support from parents and friends. Finally a big thank you to Scott Smedley for his good refereeing.
