In a game that was always going to be competitive, the 2 teams were very evenly matched with Wroughton getting the better of the midfield battle to create a couple of opportunities but finding no joy in front of the Bassett goal with good defending from our back four. However Wroughton might feel aggrieved having what looked like a clear-cut penalty that the ref didn't give. Both sides continued to battle with some good football in sticky conditions until the 37th minute when again from a corner we failed to follow the out of box when it fell to one of our opponents who struck it hard through the crowd and into the net leaving goalkeeper Scott Smedley no chance.

Again the half time team talk was about closing the ball early and talking to each other. Second half started well for both teams with most chances being well defended from both sides. However 5mins into the second period with a good corner from Ross Barber found Will Tearle clear on the 6 yard line at the back of the goal to sweetly thunder the ball in to tie the score 1-1. Wroughton started to fight for the ball with a few rough tackles, but Bassett held their own and with a further 10 mins gone got a well deserved goal from our hard working striker Martyn Anderton from a left footed lob from out side the box which their keeper left, and it crept inside the post 2-1 to us. Again the battle continued and Wroughton equalized with 10mins remaining with a good defense splitting ball for their fast paced forward to latch onto and slot the ball past our defending keeper 2-2. Both teams created 3 / 4 chances apiece to win the game but didn't make them count. Another entertaining game played in a competitive spirit. In the end the score line of 2-2 was a fair result with both teams being so evenly matched.
