First win of the season for Bassett in physical encounter

Well that makes it 2 out of 3 matches for me already this season, trips to PMH A&E department that is!!!!!!

Today was a great relief for the under 15's training staff as the lads proved that they can play the type of football required to win. The first half was a hard fought battle with both sides playing some very good football testing each others defenses. Few chances were being created as most of the play was in the midfield area, our first goal came from a great lob by Will Tearle. The second goal was scored by a great strike hard and low from Gareth Jones. Ferndale, by now were getting very frustrated and tackling wildly which continued until half time.

The second half continued as the first finished with Ferndale introducing an element of intimidation which started our players reacting to unnecessary comments directed at them. After 18 mins of play Sean Leeke was up ended with a very late tackle causing him a shoulder injury of which he had to visit PMH. Play continued with Bassett being down to 10 men giving Ferndale the advantage upon which they scored. Wootton Bassett worked hard as a team preventing any further goals.

The players were a credit to the club with they way they showed restraint during such a physical game not helped by indecision from the referee.
