Afternoon kick-offs have always been approached with some trepidation by the coaching staff over the last 5 years, as this is traditionally the time reserved for some of the teams worst performances. Our fears were confirmed from the opening whistle as the team fell out of the blocks and gave a disjointed performance against a Liden team who were superior in all departments throughout the game. Defensively Bassett gave a sound performance but with the midfield failing to provide any bite, constant pressure eventually leads to goals being conceded. Individually the midfield worked hard but any constructive team work was soon broken down by a more committed Liden side who were first to any loose ball. Martyn Anderton up front proved a tireless worker but was forced to work with meager rations throughout the game. All in all a disappointing team performance, despite some good individual efforts, especially after some very good recent games. A match to put down to experience.
