Consecutive wins for the first time this season

Another fine performance from Bassett Under 12's resulted in back-to-back league victories for the first time this season. Phillip Tearle opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a powerful shot over the Lydiard keeper. Matt Povey made it two when he scored following a goalmouth scramble. Bassett continued to press forward and created a number of chances. Matt Purse actually put the ball in the back of the net again just before half time, but the goal was disallowed for dangerous play.

The second half saw Bassett continue to press forward with Dean Wason and Jonny Aitkenhead dominating in midfield. It was the latter who scored the third Bassett goal following a defence splitting ball from Wason. A fine move down the right involving Jonny AItkenhead and Phillip Tearle saw Tearle put over a tremendous cross which was volleyed into the net by substitute Sean Toomey for Bassett's fourth. Tom Marchment then lobbed the Lydiard keeper to make it five and Jonny Aitkenhead hit a sixth following a strong run through the Lydiard defence. A comfortable win for a side who have regained their confidence and are looking to move up the table.
