Big friendly win for U12's

Without a league fixture, Bassett played host to Cirencester & District League side, Eldene. Bassett used all 18 players in this game. Despite the large change of personnel at half time this was a comfortable victory for Bassett. Phil Tearle opened the scoring for Bassett with an excellent finish. Eldene got themselves back into the match when Bassett's defence were caught square with the ball over the top. Bassett had most of the scoring chances in the first half and further goals before the break came through Jonny Aitkenhead, Phil Tearle again, with a delightful chip over the keeper, and Dean Wason.

Despite seven substitutions Bassett continued to dominate and again won the half by four goals to one. Whilst the first half goals were very much individual efforts, all four second half strikes came from good passing moves which opened up the Eldene defence. The scorers for Bassett in the second half were Matt Povey, Ryohei Ogata Peter Willis and Matt Purse. Despite the score line Eldene kept playing to the end and but for some excellent defending from David Lazenby, Jonny Aitkenhead and Mike Ford could have added to the two goals they did score.
