Bassett lose friendly against very good Greenmeadow side

The Under 11's played a friendly against Greenmeadow losing 3-0 against a very good side from the "A division". The first half was very close, and it took a mix up between David Lazenby and Tom Holmes in Bassett's goal to give the home side the lead, David Lazenby putting the ball into his own goal due to a lack of communication between the two players. Bassett did not deserve to be behind at the break. The second half was a different story as a combination of the massive pitch and the lack of training in recent weeks resulted in Bassett tiring badly and the home side scoring two more goals and it could have been more. Admittedly Bassett were without both Jonny Aitkenhead and Mike Ford, but they could and should have played better. There were some good performances, Josh Dimond and Matt Purse worked tirelessly in midfield and Will McCurrach was strong at the back but more often than not the Bassett players allowed themselves to be knocked off the ball too easily, especially up front. Hopefully Bassett will perform better in the big game with bogey side Malmesbury.
