Much improved second half secures the points

Wootton Bassett Under 11's had an excellent 5-2 home victory over Croft. In a very good game played in slippery conditions Bassett found themselves behind after 19 minutes when Ben Castillo scored for the visitors. However, an equaliser from Sean Toomey after 27 minutes, following good work down the right between Phil Tearle and Jonny Aitkenhead, put Bassett back in the game. Going behind had certainly given Bassett a kick up the backside as Croft had outplayed Bassett for much of the first half.

The second half was a different story as Jonny Aitkenhead and Phil Tearle began to pull the strings for Bassett. Indeed it was these two players who both scored two a piece as Bassett run into a 5-1 lead. In the closing minutes Croft scored another consolation goal, which made the score more realistic, as Bassett were never four goals better than their visitors. Bassett can still finish runners-up in the league but must win their last two games starting with next week's BIG match at home against Ferndale Rodbourne.
