Bassett win more comfortably than score line suggests at Croft

For the fourth consecutive match Bassett came away with a 2-1 victory. Unlike the close affairs of the previous three week's this was more of a convincing win than the final score line suggests. On a very large pitch, Bassett always looked the more likely side to win the game. Bassett had most of the early play and should have gone in front in the early stages. As it was Bassett only managed to score one goal in the first half, this through the impressive Jonny Aitkenhead mid-way through the half, a goal unfortunately missed by his mother who decided to get a drink whilst Bassett attacked the Croft goal. Croft decided to employ some rough tactics in the first half, with both Phil Tearle and Jonny Aitkenhead coming in for some unwanted attention from the Croft number 10. Unfortunately for the home side they picked the wrong side to try this on, with first Jonny Aitkenhead and then Sean Toomey showing the home side that Bassett could get physical if needed. Croft got the message and concentrated on trying to play football for the rest of the match.

The second half was a tight affair with Croft playing some neat passing football. Phil Tearle extended Bassett's lead but yet another late goal from our opponents meant a tense end to the game again. Bassett were denied a late penalty appeal by the referee (there was no way I was giving it in such a close game).
