Bassett collected their first points of the season from the visit to Ramsbury. On a slopping pitch made more difficult by the incessant rain Bassett put in a good performance to register a confidence boosting win. Despite having all the play Bassett received a shock in the 6th minute when Ramsbury took a surprise lead with a powerful shot from just outside the left-hand side of Bassett's 18-yard box. Bassett were stung by this goal and it took some time to get their composure back. Mid-way through the half an excellent through ball from Matt Povey found Phillip Tearle in space on the right-hand side and he raced away from the Ramsbury defence to equalise with a powerful shot. It was the same player who scored a second goal to put Bassett in front just before half time.

The half time introduction of Sean Toomey gave Bassett more threat up front and in the second half, with the confidence a couple of goals brings, Bassett completely dominated their opponents. There were two goals each for Sean Toomey and Johnny Aitkenhead, another for Phillip Tearle to give him his hat-trick, and one for Matt Purse. Bassett had another disallowed for a clear offside but were also the victim of some strange offside decisions from the home linesman. On two occasions he flagged for offside before any pass had been made with the Bassett player running through on their own with the ball. On each occasion the referee gave offside, denying Bassett two further clear-cut goal scoring chances. Special mention to Ramsbury for the way they did not let their heads drop as the goals went in, especially their goalkeeper who pulled off a couple of good saves as Bassett sought more goals.
