A comfortable win for Bassett over Blunsdon

A comfortable win for Wootton Bassett against the side at the bottom of the table. Phillip Tearle stated the scoring with a fierce left foot shot past the Blunsdon keeper. Matt Povey and Jonny Aitkenhead then extended the lead. Blunsdon scored only their second league goal of the season when Josh Dimond brought down a Blunsdon player in the box and the visitors scored from the resulting penalty. Bassett continued to press forward and added further goals from Jonny Aikenhead, Matt Povey, Phil Tearle and an own goal.

In the second half Bassett had virtually all of the play and added more goals through Phil Tearle, completing a hat-trick, William McCurrach and a hat trick also for substitute Sean Toomey, introduced into the match just before half time due to an injury to Dean Wason. Next week Bassett are at home again with a much tougher game in prospect when Croft are the visitors to Rylands Way.
