Royal Wootton Bassett Town's Hellenic League Premier Division playoff hopes were dealt a blow as Sam Collier's side suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat away at Roman Glass St George.
The results leaves Bassett six points behind Roman Glass having played three games more than their hosts. Further to that, results elsewhere meant Bassett slipped to eighth in the table.
Assuming current title favourites Hartpury University don't fall away, it now seems that for Roman Glass, Sporting Club Inkberrow and Mangotsfield United, a playoff place is theirs' to lose.
That likely leaves one position for Bassett to play for, with a five team race featuring Highworth Town, Fairford Town, Worcester Raiders and Pershore Town.
The good news is that Bassett still have all four of those teams left to play. But the margin for error Collier and his side have to play with is shrinking. Those four games are now probably must wins. The other five fixtures they have to play outside of those are ones Bassett cannot really afford to lose.
Against Roman Glass, Bassett put in a decent display. But the hosts capitalised on individual errors to seal a convincing victory.
They led early through Laurent Davis-Wilson and took a 1-0 advantage into the break.
Bassett then got back on level terms as Alfie Presley fired in the rebound after initially seeing a penalty saved.
But Roman Glass, who entered the game without a win in their last three league games, restored their lead and extended it further through Neikell Plummer, Jack Smith and Isaiah Crawford.
To compound matters, Bassett lost George Peare to injury, with it being confirmed that the target man has suffered three broken bones in his shoulder.
A big push is now needed as Bassett enter the final quarter of their campaign.
