Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development fell to another defeat in midweek against near neighbours Malmesbury Victoria Development.

Malmesbury had not won in any of the previous six meetings between the two sides but with Bassett's young side having a tough start to the season, Troy Prentice's outfit were hoping to bring that recent record to an end.

They did just that with most of the damage being done in the first half.

James Archer headed the home side in front on 26 minutes before Joe Tranter doubled the lead seven minutes before half time after neat set-up play between Archie Walsh and Ryan Collins.

A much improved second half performance from the visitors saw them restrict Malmesbury to just one more goal, Jack Duckers making sure of all three points after being set up by Dale Richards, playing against his former club, to give Malmesbury their first win of the season and lift them into the top half of the table.
